Today Adam "MCA" Yauch announced that he has cancer in the throat and the group will be canceling upcoming shows and pushing back the release of their Hot Sauce Committee, Part One until he finishes his treatment. Adam said, "The good news is, they did scans of my whole body and it's only localized in this one area, and it's not in a place that affects my voice, so ... that's nice. That's convenient."... Hopefully everything works out and he has a speedy recovery.
Taxidermia, the second full-length feature film by Hungarian director György Palfi. The Tag line for the movie is, Three stories. Three generations. Three men. One bizarre and shocking universe. It was released August 23, 2006 in France and has since been released on a very limited basis around the world. Imdb says the movie was released July 17 in the U.S. The movie is built around three generations of a family whose members are bound by a particular relationship to the body, Taxidermia tells the story of a lustful aide-de-camp in search of love; his son, the champion of a sport consisting of swallowing the greatest quantity of food in record time; and his grandson, a taxidermist in search of immortality.~ I have seen at least 3 different posters for this movie so do be surprised if you see multiple ones.
Website Daily mail reports that former roadie James 'Tappy' Wright claims that the guitar legend Jimi Hendrix was murdered by his manager Michael Jeffrey in his London hotel room in his new book 'Rock Roadie'. He claims that Jeffrey confessed to him two years before the manager was killed in a plane crash. Wright says: "I can still hear that conversation, see the man I'd known for so much of my life, his face pale, hand clutching at his glass in sudden rage." Then he is quoted as saying, "I was in London the night of Jimi's death and together with some old friends... we went round to Monika's hotel room, got a handful of pills and stuffed them into his mouth...then poured a few bottles of red wine deep into his windpipe." He said, "I had to do it. Jimi was worth much more to me dead than alive," Jeffrey told Wright. "That son of a bitch was going to leave me. If I lost him, I'd lose everything." He had recently taken out a life insurance policy worth $2 million (£1.2 million), with Jeffrey as beneficiary. The coroner recorded the death as "barbiturate intoxication and inhalation of vomit".
